Island Assault! (Deutsch)
The battles of World War Two ravaged the entire world. Where the Band of Brothers starter set is very much concerned with the European Theatre in the wake of D-Day, our brand new starter set shifts focus to the Pacific, pitting the United States Marine Corps against Japanese Island defenders in some of the most brutal and hard-fought battles of the War.The new starter set is focussed on the island-hopping campaigns enacted by the US to reclaim Japanese advances. Unlike the land war that raged in Europe, North Africa, and the Soviet Union, where vast armies of tanks and infantry could manoeuvre and fight over large tracts of open ground, the Pacific campaign was fought mostly on a series of relatively small islands, densely packed with jungles and protected by the sea. Each island had to be landed on, fought for, and the defenders rooted out of, individually.Containing two opposing forces set amongst the many islands in the Pacific theatre, Island Assault! contains the Bolt Action 2nd edition rules as well as a scenario booklet guiding you through your first steps in the game. Before long you’ll be adding to your new army and wreaking havoc on your foes be they fighting for Uncle Sam or the Emperor!Full Contents:Bolt Action Rulebook (German language)Island Assault booklet (German language)24 Imperial Japanese Army soldiersChi-Ha tank24 US MarinesM3A1 Half-trackDicePin marker sprueTemplate sprue1 Pillbox (exclusive to this set)2 Spiderholes (exclusive to this set)Models supplied unassembled and unpainted

M18 Hellcat
The Hellcat’s prodigious speed was attained by keeping it’s armour to no more than 1″ thick. Hellcat crews quickly took advantage of the vehicle’s speed to minimise the enemy’s ability to pierce its thin armour. Hellcats used their speed to outflank and penetrate the side and back of the heavily armoured German Tiger and Panther tanks. The M18 Hellcat saw service in the Western Front in the main. However it also saw action in the Pacific and in Italy. The US military also supplied the M18 to Chinese Nationalist forces opposing the Japanese in the Pacific theatre. As this was something of an overkill situation against weakly armoured Japanese tanks, the Hellcat was more often used in a fire support role.Post war, the Hellcat would see service with several nations and it is still in use with the Venezualan Army!In Bolt ActionCost:124pts (Inexperienced), 155pts (Regular), 186pts (Veteran)Weapons:One turret-mounted heavy anti-tank gunDamage value:7+ (armoured car/carrier)Options:May add a pintle-mounted HMG for +25ptsMay be a recce vehicle for +10pointsSpecial RulesOpen-toppedRecce: if option is chosenContains:1 M18 Hellcat plastic kit1 Waterslide transfer set1 Full colour construction and paint guide1 Colour, detailed stats, Bolt Action play cardModel supplied unassembled and unpainted

M21 Mortar Carrier
Bringing support fire to your mobile forces with the M21 Mortar carrier, ideal for winkling out those dug in infantry!By the middle of the war the US Army could field legions of tanks and support vehicles, backed by the industrial might of the USA. Using their reliable M3 Half-track as a basis, they created the M21, a mobile mortar carrier that could keep up with advancing tanks and armoured infantry. This useful vehicle carried the simple but effective 81mm mortar, with 97 ready-use rounds, and crewed by a team of six men.In general the mortar would be carried to a firing position and deployed, however it was not uncommon to sight and fire the mortar straight from the half-track, keeping the team on the move if needs be and sheltering from shrapnel or small arms fire. 110 M21s were built by the White company and saw service in Western Europe, predominantly by US forces, but some were also deployed by the Free French. The best tactic in Bolt Action is to shoot and scoot, before return fire catches youThis fantastic support Half-track comes complete 1 pintle-mounted HMG, 1 hull-mounted rear facing medium mortar and a full decal sheet.Model supplied unassembled and unpainted

M8 / M20 Scout Car
The M8 Greyhound was originally designed to replace the US military's portee gun in an anti-tank role, but was quickly repurposed once it was realised that its performance against German armour was lacking. It found use as a popular and successful armoured car that served American and British armies well throughout the war.Its crew of four served a 37mm gun, a co-axial .30 cal, the more aggressive crews adding a .50 cal on the roof for anti aircraft and local defence. It was very fast – hence its British name of Greyhound – capable of 55mph on good roads, but was known to bog down in mud. Its armour was enough to shrug off small arms fire, and these vehicles were best used in pairs to scout out enemy lines, supporting each other in a leap-frog fashion on the advance or covering a retreat.Replacing the armoured turret for a fixed, open fighting compartment, the M20 scout car was used primarily as a command vehicle, sacrificing the turrets main gun in favour of extra radio capability, it also carried a portable Bazooka for extra anti-armour firepower.Contains:1/56th scale hard plastic US M8 or M20 armoured carInstruction leafletWaterslide decal sheetModel supplied unassembled and unpainted

Semper Fidelis US Marine Starter Army
Guadalcanal. Tarawa. Iwo Jima. Okinawa. Just some of the legendary actions the US Marine Corps fought in - actions that have rightfully sent the USMC into legend. There are few fighting forces that can rival the fearsome reputation of the United States Marine Corps. Indeed they can trace their ancestry back to the Revolutionary War in the 18th Century, serving all over the globe up to the present day.During the Second World War the US Marines spearheaded the American response to Japanese aggression, leading to a ferocious island-hopping campaign. The technologically superior US forces made many amphibious assaults that wore down the Japanese and culminated in crushing American victories albeit with terrible loss of life on both sides.US Marines in the Pacific Theatre of Operations were eager to get the job done be it with the bayonet, shotgun or their Thompson submachine guns. Their loyalty to their comrades and the Corps stood them in good stead as they faced a fanatical foe where no quarter was given no received.Semper Fi!Bolt Action Points ValuesDescriptionValue2nd Lieutenant (regular) +2 regular soldier70*Medic (regular) +1 regular soldier33USMC squad (regular) 12 men inc 3 SMG, 2 BAR and 2 shotguns145USMC squad (regular) 12 men inc 3 SMG, 2 BAR and 2 shotguns145USMC squad (regular) 12 men inc 3 SMG, 2 BAR and 2 shotguns14537mm anti-tank gun (regular)50Bazooka team (regular)60Flamethrower team (regular)50Medium Mortar team and spotter (regular)602x 30 Cal MMG team (regular)100M3 half-track (regular) with 3 additional MMGs144Total999That's a contents of:7 USMC sprues2 US weapon sprues1 M3A1 plastic half-trackMetal Corpsman (medic)Metal Flamethrower teamMetal medium Mortar teamMetal 37mm light anti-tank gun2 Metal 30 Cal teamsUSMC leafletModels supplied unassembled and unpainted

Sherman Crocodile Flamethrower Tank
Inspired by the powerful British Churchill Crocodile and their own experiences in the Pacific with other versions of flamethrower tanks the US army ordered some 100 Sherman Crocodile variants from the British, who were recognised as leading the field in Flamethrower technology.Based on the M4A4 (Sherman V) welded hull the Crocodile retained full operation of its turret and 75mm gun and bow-mounted .30 Cal (7.62mm) machine gun. The flame gun was placed above the Bow Machinegunners hatch. All of the flamethrowing equipment was positioned externally, including the iconic wheeled trailer. The trailer weighed 6.5 tons and was protected by 12mm (0.47 in) thick armour. A special joint connector known as “The Link” (made up of 3 articulated joints allowing it to move up, down, left or right and swivel on the horizontal axis) allowed it manoeuvre through rough terrain. This link could also be released from inside the crew compartment in case of an emergency, a great design attribute as the trailer carried 400 gallons (1818 litres) of flamethrower liquid and 5 compressed bottles of Nitrogen (N₂) gas!The flamer worked by using Nitrogen gas to propel the fuel along a pipe running from the rear of the tank, up and along the right flank, to a flame projector mounted on the right upper glacis. The co-driver/bow machine gunner would then operated the flamethrower or his machine gun.Of the initial order, only 3 M4A4 Crocodiles were actually made and along with a fourth, the prototype M4A2 (Sherman III), seeing action with the 739th Tank Battalion (Special Mine Exploder Unit). They were sent in February 1945 to take part in Operation: Grenade, the assault on the ancient 13th-century citadel in Julich, Germany. Helping demolish the garrison of the old citadel. There were other flamethrower tank variants used with standard gun Shermans in Europe. Using either the E4-5 or ESR1 Auxiliary Flamethrower that replaced the bow machine gun or the H1 Periscope Mount Flame Thrower, again over the Bow machine gun position. More famously used in battle on Iwo Jima were the main armament flamethrower version that replaced the main gun, known as the M4 POA-CWS H1 (POA-CWS: Pacific Ocean Area-Chemical Warfare Service) built mainly on the M4A3 Sherman. In Bolt ActionThe Sherman Crocodile is a powerful adversary and ideal for advancing alongside your hand-picked assault troops as the advance on enemy strong points.Cost:130pts (Inexperienced), 165pts (Regular), 200pts (Veteran)Weapons:1 gyro-stabilised turret-mounted medium anti-tank gun with co-axial MMG, 1 forward facing hull-mounted MMG, 1 forward facing hull-mounted flamethrowerDamage Value:9+ (medium tank)Options:May add a pintle-mounted HMG on the turret for +25pts.May cancel the ‘Easily catches fire’ rule for +10ptsSpecial Rules:Easily catches fire: if a roll on the vehicle damage table results in the vehicle catching fire add D3 pin markers rather than just 1 before taking a morale test.HE: instead of causing D2 HE hits, an HE shell causes D6 hitsBusy crew: you can either fire the hull-mounted MMG, or the hull-mounted flamethrower, but not both in the same turnVolatile: extra fuel tanks make each tank a potential fireball. Flame-throwing vehicles are more likely to be destroyed by damage, as explained on page 51 of the rulebookSlow: the Sherman Crocodile is Slow as it tows the fuel on a trailer – its move is reduced to 6” advance and 12” runContains:One 1/56 scale hard plastic, resin and metal WWII M4A2 Sherman Crocodile flamethrower tankBolt Action stat cardFull-colour waterslide decal sheetConstruction leafletDamage markersModels supplied unassembled and unpainted
